Houssem Aouar is the number one transfer target for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta as per the unnamed sources cited by ESPN.
The Lyon skipper has already informed the club that he would like to join the Gunners and the onus is on Arsenal to make the transfer happen.
Arsenal had earlier offered cash plus midfielder Matteo Guendouzi but the offer was turned down. Lyon didn’t want a player like Guendouzi as he does not fit their profile according to sporting director Juninho Pernambucano.
Houssem Aouar led Lyon to relatively unfamiliar territory in the Champions League last season.
Lyon stunned a lot of football fans and stakeholders as they saw off Juventus in the round of 16 before brushing aside Manchester City in the quarterfinals.
