Man United and Chelsea had been linked with the signature of Hellas Verona defender Marash Kumbulla earlier in this summer transfer window but from the latest report, he will be staying in Serie A.

It is confirmed that the 20-year-old will be parting ways with Serie A outfit Hellas Verona but he will remain in Italy with a move to Rome as AS Roma are reported to have agreed on terms with him.

Both Man United and Chelsea are believed to have a need for a defender this summer transfer window to be able to strengthen and fight for titles this season.

The Red Devils seek a partner with Harry Maguire, the reason why they showed interest in the Albanian defender but from all indications, they have met the dead rock.

Marash Kumbulla gained the attention he now has from a number of top European clubs as a result of his rigorous and no-nonsense style for his team. He has been tipped to be a good fit for the English Premier League because of his physicality.

Both the Blues and the Red Devils are yet to sort out their defensive needs as the West London club only secured Thiago Silva while United have been unable to do any defensive deal.
