Manchester United midfielder Fred is determined to stay at Old Trafford despite the numerous transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

In a chat with FourFourTwo, Brazilian international Fred revealed that he wants to stay and fight for his shirt.

There’s serious competition for midfield spots at Manchester United after the arrival of Donny Van De Beek from Ajax Amsterdam in a £40m deal including add-ons.

The Dutch international has been an Ajax Amsterdam player for the entirety of his playing career until Manchester United came calling this summer.

Fred will battle the likes of Nemanja Matic, Donny Van De Beek, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba for a spot in midfield.

Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes are almost certain to start when fit leaving just one midfield spot for the others.

Fred, a signing from Ukranian side Shakthar Donetsk in the summer of 2018, also spoke about the disappointments of last season as Manchester United failed to win any trophy.

The Red Devils finished the season in third place in the league as they secured Champions League football for this season but they were unable to back it up with a trophy after crashing out in the semi-finals in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and the Europa League.
