Arsenal have continued to be linked with a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid star James Rodriguez and there are suggestions that a deal could be sealed this summer transfer window.

The Gunners interest was reported by SunSport’s Dave Fraser when he stated that Arsenal want to seal a deal for the player, adding that manager Mikel Arteta is hoping to have a summer overhaul which includes sales of players and incomings.

Already, Brazilian international, Philippe Coutinho has been mentioned as one of the players to join the club as well as Willian from West London outfit but more are still being expected like the James Rodriguez speculation.

However, Dave Fraser claims Arsenal’s bid for James Rodriguez would be a big mistake for the club if they are successful as he stated that the system of play, involving the 4-3-3, 3-4-3, and the 5-2-3 formations only accommodates two central midfielders and one holding midfielder which makes no room for the Real Madrid star.

According to him, this is the reason why Germany international, Mesut Ozil has been left redundant in the team, stressing that there could be a repeat with James Rodriguez.

He further laments that Mesut Ozil is paid £350,000 a week to sit on the bench and that could also happen with James Rodriguez if he joins.
