A number of clubs have indicated an interest in the signature of Spanish La Liga outfit, Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic as he is set to part ways with Barcelona after six years at the Camp Nou.
In an attempt to win the race, Le10 Sport reports that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta called the 32-year-old to convince him on a move to the Emirates Stadium.
According to the report, the Spanish boss told Ivan Rakitic of his plans for him and how he would be used in the coming season but it was not reported if the Croatian has accepted.

Instead, reports claim that he is not keen on a move to the English Premier League and will rather remain at the Spanish La Liiga or move to the Italian Serie A, where he already has suitors.
Ivan Rakitic is no longer a favourite for selection in the Barcelona midfield, owing to his age and other factors and that seems to be getting to him as he is still confident of playing actively for many years.
With Arsenal hoping to strengthen the midfield, Ivan Rakitic will not be a bad idea for Mikel Arteta as he would be bringing his wealth of experience to help other young ones.
