Manchester United manager has received a massive boost in his desire to sign former World Cup finalist Ivan Rakitic as the player is reportedly set to end his stay at Camp Nou in January.

It is believed that the Red Devils are eagerly ready to snatch the Croatian midfielder from Camp Nou in the winter as Solskjaer wants to add new faces to his midfield formation.

After falling down the pecking order due to the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in the summer, Rakitic is now set to dump the Blaugranas and he’s said to be considering the Theatre of Dreams as his next destination.

Spanish media MARCA, claimed that the Premier League side is likely to sign the 31-year-old midfielder ahead of Juventus who are also in the race for his signature.

The Serie A side were linked with the player’s services immediately after the 2018 World Cup in Russia but the Catalans were unconvinced with their offer.

Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen on working with the aging midfielder and the Bianconeri are set to compete with United for his services in January.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer is sweating over David De Gea’s fitness level ahead of Liverpool clash after the goalie sustained an injury while in action for Spain on Tuesday.

He will hope to see the 28-year-old return to training as soon as possible or he will count on his second-choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero during the encounter.
