Some weeks ago, Arsenal fans were filled with joy and its expression on the social media over the speculations that Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey will be switching to the Emirates Stadium this summer transfer window.

That has been on the low for the past days for reasons unknown but should Arsenal fans forget the possibility of the deal?

Reports from Spanish media claim the player is interested in the Premier League and Arsenal with a fee of £45 million.

Considering the issues at Arsenal; Granit Xhaka’s injury and the poor results, there is no doubt about an addition to the heart of the Arsenal team for Spanish manager Mikel Arteta to be able to deliver more wins.

However, the defensive woes the Gunners have suffered in their last two games could change the priority in the summer transfer window, especially now that goalkeeper Bernd Leno is feared to be out for a longer period after his injury at Brighton.

In addition, Arsenal must be realistic about their financial strength in securing a deal for the young lad, knowing his price tag and other transfer needs.

It is feared that the report on Partey might just end as mere speculations because of the need for Arteta to equip his defence than any other position no wonder, Spanish manager Arteta is already considering Bukayo Saka for a role in the midfield because of the urgency and options available.

Tottenham are also in the chase of Partey but seem unconvinced about his worth for £45 million despite claims that Atletico are willing to let him go.
