Swap deals and free transfers are likely to be very popular during the upcoming transfer market due to reduced income amongst the clubs. Coronavirus has hit the world hard and football has not been spared on the financial front.
Football was suspended in March because of the COVID19 virus though some leagues have resumed, while some others are planning to resume. Others like the Dutch Eredivisie and the French Ligue 1 have already moved on from the current football season.
For now, the leagues returning to the football field will play behind closed doors thus impacting on finances for both the small and big clubs. To this effect, these clubs are not expected to spend big on players in the transfer market this summer with emphasis now mostly on free transfers and swap deals. Let’s take a look at the top three potential swap deals this summer:

1. Paul Pogba-Aaron Ramsey: Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is likely to leave the club this summer with his contract running out and former club Juventus are one of the sides interested in him, while Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey has not really settled into life at the club he joined on a free transfer last summer. A possible swap deal has been discussed in the media.
2. Miralem Pjanic-Arthur: Barcelona and Juventus are reportedly in talks over a swap deal involving their midfielders Arthur and Miralem Pjanic respectively. The swap deal was close to being completed until Barcelona requested for a cash-plus-player deal rather than a straight swap deal. Despite this setback, the transfer could still go ahead with Juventus keen to sell Pjanic this summer.
Alexandre Lacazette-Thomas Partey: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a big fan of top target Thomas Partey and he might need to sacrifice striker Alexandre Lacazette in his quest to sign the Ghanaian player.
EPL: Arsenal take another big step in chase of their long-term target
North London outfit Arsenal are keen on the signature of their long-term target, Houssem Aouar and they are reported to be preparing an improved bid that would be submitted to French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
Houssem Aouar has been the target for the Gunners for the past months and there has not been any breakthrough with both clubs failing to agree on a fee.
The Gunners had earlier proposed a swap deal involving Matteo Guendouzi but that was rejected by the French Ligue 1 outfit. A recent bid of £32 million was also submitted for Houssem Aouar and it was rejected as well.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that the North London outfit are keen on the signature of Houssem Aouar but their bid is far from what they demand the player, adding that the midfielder will have to remain with the club this season.
However, football.london has reported that the Gunners are now preparing a higher bid that could convince Lyon into releasing Houssem Aouar before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to the report, Arsenal will now submit an offer of £36.5 million and £9 million add-ons with the hope that a deal will be concluded as the player has already agreed to join the North London club.
EPL: Should Arsenal have any worry over bid to sell players?
One thing that has been most talked about is the fact that the North London outfit Arsenal will sell some players to be able to bring in new ones but that has not happened as expected.
So far, the Gunners have only earned £20 million from the sale of Emi Martinez while a number of names that have been listed as part of those to leave the club are yet to seal any deal with their suitors.
The North London outfit have already secured the signature of Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes from Chelsea and Lille respectively but they still have other targets but cannot buy because of the lack of funds.

It is understood that the club must sell before they can bring in their remaining targets. However, efforts to sell Lucas Torreira seem to have suffered a setback as one of his suitors has backed out of the deal.
Italian Serie A outfit Torino are one of the suitors alongside Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid but the club has stepped down their interest with the claim that Lucas Torreira is expensive for the club to buy.
This means the option of selling the former Sampdoria midfielder has been limited to two but Atletico Madrid still remains a favoured destination as talks are still ongoing between the two clubs.
EPL: Arsenal bid for £250,000-a-week star still on cards
All hope is not lost for Arsenal in chase of Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho with reports that manager Mikel Arteta is still making moves to bring him to the Emirates Stadium on loan.
The Brazilian international spent last season on loan with German Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich and he is now returned to Barcelona after being convinced by new manager Ronald Koeman.
However, there is expected to be some shake off in the Catalans team with a number of players including Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic while a number of names are still being mentioned.

This development has not gone down with the club’s star player Lionel Messi who has spoken out and that is expected to cause a shaking in the club, a situation that could force some players out of the team.
The Gunners are reportedly hoping to take advantage of the situation and bring in Philippe Coutinho who could also be unsettled as his future at Camp Nou is still uncertain.
It is understood that manager Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Philippe Coutinho and he could take advantage of the club’s relationship with his agent to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer transfer window.
EPL: Man United and Arsenal could still battle for this defender
Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that his club will not move in for a new defender, insisting that he has several of them at the club after their slim 3-2 win against Brighton on Saturday.
This is against the advice to him by pundits and former players to bring in quality and experienced defender to the club if he must compete for titles this season.
However, the Red Devils manager might be forced to have a rethink, especially as it is reported that Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has been made available this summer transfer window.

Barcelona’s new manager Ronald Koeman looks to rebuild his team and that will see a number of players leave the club, including Samuel Umtiti who is on the radar of a number of teams including Inter Milan, Rennes, and Lyon.
With claims that he could be available for a cheaper fee, Man United could take advantage of that to secure a partner for Harry Maguire to mend the shaky defence.
Arsenal have also made some defensive additions and are reported to sell some of their centre-back to e able to create space in the team but that will also not stop them from taking the chances of having an experienced defender like the Frenchman.
EPL: Arsenal mentioned as likely destination for 33-year-old
English Premier League outfit Arsenal have been mentioned by some reports as part of the likely destination for Sami Khedira who is believed to be available on a cheap fee.
The option for the North London outfit this summer window is Houssem Aouar but there have been difficulty in agreeing on a deal with French Ligue 1 outfit Lyon as they cannot meet his asking price.
With Sami Khedira set to leave the Bianconeri this summer window, his age might not be an issue as he will give Arsenal his experience and defensive discipline to help challenge bigger teams in the Premier League.

- EPL: Man United blasted for failing to take THESE big summer opportunities
The only reason why Sami Khedira is being suggested to Arsenal is for the fact that they lack the financial strength to bring in their major targets while time is also running out on them.
However, it is very unlikely that manager Mikel Arteta will seek to work with Sami Khedira because of his age as the style of the Spanish boss fits into younger players.
Sami Khedira has been a long-term target for the North London outfit. It would be recalled that former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger made several attempts to land the Germany international but was unable to win his chase.
Arsenal News: Torreira Torino Transfer Torpedoed
Lucas Torreira won’t be moving from Arsenal to Torino in this transfer window according to their sporting director Davide Vagnati via his latest interview monitored by Football London.
Italian Serie A club Torino were thought to be the favourites to sign Lucas Torreira but that would longer be possible due to his high transfer fee.
Davide Vagnati said that Lucas Torreira is a top player but it is difficult for Torino or any other club to sign him because of the financial demands from the Gunners.

Arsenal want to sell Lucas Torreira as they bid to raise funds to sign new players.
Midfielders Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar are the targets for the Gunners but they need to raise money to sign them.
Lucas Torreira previously played for Italian sides Pescara and Sampdoria before Arsenal signed him from the former.
The Gunners paid £26m for the player two years ago and he made a bright start to his career. He has not been a regular since Mikel Arteta became the Arsenal manager.
Report: Aouar ‘Agrees To Join Arsenal’
Arsenal target Houssem Aouar has decided to reciprocate the Gunners’ interest as per the reports from French media outlet Telefoot.
It was revealed that the Lyon midfielder has agreed to join Arsenal in this transfer window.
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, personal terms won’t be a problem for Arsenal and Houssem Aouar.
The Gunners will offer him a five-year deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal made Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey their top target at the start of the transfer window but that seems to have changed in recent weeks with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar now the club’s first choice transfer target.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta wants to add a creative spark to his team and he’s confident that Algerian-born French junior international Aouar is the man to provide the North London club with the creativity that has been lacking in recent times.
Houssem Aouar has decided to join Arteta and Arsenal in North London but the club still needs to negotiate a transfer fee with Lyon.
The Gunners have seen their first two offers rejected by Lyon and are expected to make a third bid for Aouar in the coming days.
Lyon have placed a €60m valuation on the player.
EPL: Arsenal To Make Improved Bid For Houssem Aouar
North London giants Arsenal are ready to make an improved bid for top midfield target Houssem Aouar as per the report from The Telegraph.
The Gunners want to make a new offer to Lyon for the player after their latest bid was turned down by the former French champions.
It was revealed that the Gunners will make a new bid of €40m (£36m) plus €10m (£9m) in add-ons thus making a total of €50m (£45m).

The new offer will be the third bid from the Gunners as they attempt to sign Houssem Aouar before the transfer market shuts. Arsenal had seen the first two offers rejected by Lyon whose president Jean Michel Aulas is a notoriously hard negotiator.
Arsenal initially made an offer of €35m (£31.5m) that included midfielder Matteo Guendouzi that was rejected before the second bid of €36m (£32m) was sent. The second offer also met the same outcome as the first offer.
Lyon value Aouar close to the €60m mark (£54m) though reports in the media claimed that the French giants would be happy to sanction the sale of the player for €50m (£45m).
Arsenal have signed six players this summer and the Gunners could make Houssem Aouar their seventh signing of the summer.
