Chelsea

Chelsea Academy is blessed with a lot of young players and the Europa League winner found it difficult to keep most of the players due to lack of playing opportunity.

The Blues Academy has been one of the prolific academies in the Premier League; the academy currently has produced more than five players who are playing regularly in the current team squad.

Chelsea who are well known for their constant spending in transfer windows have spent more than 2 billion Euros on transfer fees and players’ salaries since Roman Abramovic became the owner of the club.

For more than a decade now, John Terry has been the only Product from the Academy who has spent his entire football career at Stamford Bridge.

Majority of the players produced are being loaned out to different clubs in Europe in order to gain more experience and some of these players are later released, while others were sold out cheaply to avoid UEFA’s sanctions for financial fair rule.

Conte was the first manager to give some of the loan players’ opportunity, his decisions were criticized by the Blues’ fans when they reinstated Victor Mosses, Nathaniel Ake and Andreas Christensen into the first team thereby dropping Cahill and Willian in his famous 3-4-3 formation.

Victor Moses and Andreas Christensen are some of the loan players who feature regularly under the Italian after their successful loan spell at Stoke City and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively, in which he won the League at his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea transfer ban gave them no other option than to trust in their loan players who in turn serve as blessings to Frank Lampard managerial career at Chelsea, the former Chelsea Legend still maintains their fourth spot despite tough competitions.

Lampard’s team is currently struggling with forms after a brilliant start at the beginning of the season.

The Blues started well following the 4nil humiliation from Manchester United.

Frankie will have to stick to the loan players till summer since they failed to sign new players in January, there are many Chelsea loan players who had to leave the club due to their declined performance, the team will have to sign to avoid the case of Mohammed Salah and Kelvin De-bruyne.

The Top three former Chelsea Players the team should sign.

Nathaniel Ake

The former Chelsea player has become one of the best defender in the Premier League.

The Bournemouth player can play as a centre-defender or as a left-back.

The former Chelsea defender was recalled from loan under Antonio Conte with the hope that he will be given more playing time at London. Unfortunately, the defender was sold to Bournemouth despite his brilliant performance.

Chelsea are currently struggling at the back-line as conceded in their previous 5 matches, Antonio Rudiger is the only trusted defender in the squad, the manager who has used Zouma, Tomori and Christensen this season but none of these players was able to impress the retired midfielder.

However, bringing back Ake to Stamford Bridge should be Frankie’s decision, the former Derby manager tried to sign the player this January but it wasn’t fertile since Bournemouth who are still battling relegation opted to keep their player due to replacement.

Signing Ake in summer is possible, they might use Tomori as a bait to lure their former player back to the club.

It appears that the buy-back clause in his contract still put Chelsea ahead of other teams in the Premier League that also want his service.

Thorgan Hazard

The younger brother of former Chelsea player Eden Hazard was signed along with his brother, although the midfielder never put on the blue Jersey before he was sold after his successful loan spell at Germany Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Belgium midfielder can play in the Midfield and also as a winger, his creative passes and dribbling abilities will add to Frankie’s team.

Thorgan who has always proclaimed his love for the Londoners will hope to work in his brother’s shoes who won the league at Chelsea and also the UEFA Europa cup.

The young winger recently signed for Borussia Dortmund despite interest from Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.

The prolific winger will be an added advantage at Chelsea, his experience and assists will increase the scoring rate of Tammy Abraham who is currently struggling to increase his 13 League Goals, The England international has been experiencing goal drought in his previous 5 matches.

Jeremie Boga

The Ivorian winger left Chelsea after 3 successful loan spell with Rennes, Granada and Birmingham.

The young winger was signed by Sassuolo after his failure to secure a starting slot at Chelsea.

It appears that Frank Lampard might make a move for the winger following his brilliant display in the Serie A this season.

The young attacker has scored 6 times, assist 3 in the League, helping the Italian to sit comfortably above relegation.

It was rumored that Barcelona and Napoli have shown interest in signing the 23-years-old who is gradually becoming a popular player in Italy – Although, Chelsea still have an edge over other teams because of the buy-back clause in his contract.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to sign him in summer, the recent decline in some of their players’ form might force Frank Lampard to reinforce the team squad.

Boga whose release clause is 12 million Euros will a useful vessel at Chelsea, the Pensioners failed in their attempt to sign Moussa Dembele, Thomas Werner or Jordan Sancho due to high inflating in the transfer market.

EPL: Does Giroud Deserves A New Chelsea Contract?

The suspension of Premier League due to the Coronavirus menace came at a wrong time for some clubs including West London giants Chelsea and their ageing striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud and Chelsea were getting their groove back before the Coronavirus pandemic forced matches to be suspended until further notice.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard didn’t fancy French international Giroud as his main striker until February when results had completely taken a turn for the worse, especially in the Premier League. Blues boss Lampard started with Tammy Abraham as his first-choice striker, while Michy Batshuayi was his understudy leaving Olivier Giroud to be the third choice striker despite being the most experienced of the three players.

Giroud became the third choice striker under Frank Lampard and that restricted him to few leagues starts before February 2020 when he became the first choice partly because of the injury to Tammy Abraham as well as the inability of the aforementioned Batshuayi to fill the vacant striker void.

Olivier Giroud is a World Cup winner having led the line for France at the last edition of the tournament in Russia some two years ago and all of his experience came to the fore for the Blues as he was a major catalyst as Chelsea improved their league results which had been very poor either side of the winter.

Lampard introduced Giroud back into the Chelsea starting XI during the home London Derby clash with Tottenham Hotspur and that decision led to 7 points from three Premier League clashes until the league was suspended. Giroud scored twice and also provided three assists in those three league games as he helped Chelsea maintain their place in the top four.

Giroud will be a free agent in the next few months but he would be hoping that he has done enough to get a new contract at Stamford Bridge despite coming close to leaving the club to Inter Milan FC of Italy in January. The picture will definitely be clearer in the coming weeks.

According to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are keen on signing £25m-rated Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson in the summer.

Dean Henderson has impressed a great deal during his loan spell at Sheffield United whom he joined from Manchester United at the start of the season.

The 22-year-old shot-stopper had earlier spent one year at Sheffield United on loan as he helped the Blades secure promotion to the Premier League via a second-placed finish in the English Championship last season.

Sheffield United secured his services on loan for another season and he has been immense for the Blades who have been the surprise package of the current Premier League season. The Blades are in the mix for Champions League football.

They are in sixth position with 43 points and they are just two points off Chelsea in fourth place plus they have the same points with Wolverhampton Wanderers in fifth place.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has doubts over Kepa Arrizabalaga who was previously the first choice goalkeeper at the club before the Spanish international was dropped in January in favour of his deputy and 38-year-old Willy Caballero.

Kepa Arrizabalaga’s form has been questionable this season despite the fact that he’s the most expensive goalkeeper ever as a result of the £71m Chelsea paid to sign him from Athletic Bilbao at the start of the last campaign.

Lampard has identified Dean Henderson as the man to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at Chelsea if the club is able to sell the Spaniard with former club Atheltic Bilbao interested in him.

Dean Henderson could also return to Manchester United as the number one goalkeeper if current recipient David De Gea leaves the club.

Willian

Europa League holders Chelsea have been rocked with the news that winger Willian has turned down a contract offer for the club as he’s holding out for better terms.

According to Brazilian news portal UOL Esporte, Chelsea have offered Willian a two-year contract extension and that the player turned it down immediately.

Willian has few months left on his current Chelsea deal meaning that the Brazilian international will be a free agent by the end of this campaign.

The player wants a three-year deal and the aforementioned publication said that Willian is ready to leave Chelsea if club officials don’t meet that demand with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur also keen to sign him.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is no stranger to Willian having managed him while he was the Blues boss for the second time between 2013 and 2015.

Willian won his first Premier League title at Chelsea under the guidance of Jose Mourinho and both parties could reunite at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Jose Mourinho will definitely bolster his squad in the summer, and Willian could be a very cheap option for him since the Brazilian player would be a free agent by then. Spurs fans have a little history with the Brazilian winger after he snubbed the club for Chelsea.

Willian was closing on a move to Tottenham Hotspur before Chelsea hijacked the deal. He has won two Premier League titles at Chelsea since his transfer to the Premier League.

He showed his quality for Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and senior clubs officials after his opening goal vs Liverpool during the week.

Willian scored the first goal of the game during the FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Liverpool before Ross Barkley added a second goal after the halftime interval. Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 at home to setup a quarterfinal tie at Leicester City.
