Liverpool have been an unstoppable force and an immovable entity this season especially in the Premier League where the Merseysiders have made their way to the Premier League summit in record-breaking fashion.

The Reds have not lost any league game this season after 25 attempts and their last defeat happened over a year ago at the home of long-term title rivals Manchester City.

The Citizens are the champions for the last two seasons and they were responsible for the last Premier League defeat suffered by Liverpool via a 2-1 home win in January 2019.

Since that defeat at the Etihad Stadium at the start of last year, Liverpool have gone 43 games without a loss in the competition.

Liverpool have won 24 and drawn only one from 25 league outings to take them to 73 points and 22 points ahead of nearest challengers Manchester City.

The Liverpool first team has suffered one defeat all season and that was in the first game of their Champions League campaign this term as they bid to win the European competition for the second successive season.

The other defeat this season was in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals when Klopp left the match at Aston Villa for the youth team due to their 2020 FIFA Club World Cup commitment.

A youthful Liverpool team were on the end of a 5-0 thrashing at Aston Villa who has since booked a final date with defending champions Manchester City in the final at the start of next month.

Let’s examine the three main reasons behind the phenomenal Liverpool form this season:

1. Klopp Factor

The Liverpool manager has been the brain behind the successes recorded at the club in the past months. His focus is on the collective and the German tactician has been able to foster a strong team spirit amongst his players as a result. Liverpool have won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA World Club Cup in the last eight months on the back of a seven-year trophy drought.

2. Solid Defence

The Liverpool defence has been the bedrock of the successes achieved by the Merseyside giants in the last two seasons. Liverpool have the best defensive record in the league this season with 15 goals conceded in 25 games.

3. Fearsome Attack

The fearsome attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino have been the key to the Liverpool form in the Premier League this season.
