Liverpool could still be active in the ongoing January transfer window if the report from the Daily Mail is accurate as the Reds are interested in a swoop for exciting Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

The Merseysiders have already signed Takumi Minamino into the first team and he has already played his first game for the club in the FA Cup.

Liverpool signed the Japanese international after they paid the £7.25m fee in his release clause at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

According to the aforementioned publication, Liverpool want to sign Samuel Chukwueze who has £50m as his release clause but the Yellow Submarines would be ready to sanction his transfer for £34m.

Samuel Chukwueze previously attracted the interest of Premier League champions Manchester City towards the end of last year, while the trio of Lyon, Liverpool and Chelsea have been there this month as far as the interest in the player is concerned.

The Villarreal winger has scored three goals and provided an assist for his team this season.

Chukwueze is an important player for club and country as evident in the role he played for Nigeria as they finished in third place at the end of last year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
