Manchester United fans have had to adjust their expectations of the team as their players have been very inconsistent this season as they continue to battle for a place in the top four of the Premier League at the end of this campaign.
Only a place in the top four will secure a Champions League place for the Red Devils next season having already missed out on the competition this term. They can also seal that spot by winning the Europa League which is a long shot at the moment.
Manchester United are six points off the pace as regards top four at the moment and they have just 13 games to rectify that. Depending on the outcome of their chase for a top-four place this season, several players are on the potentially on the chopping ahead of next season.

Here are players that could leave the club this summer:
1. Nemanja Matic
The 31-year-old Serbian has been able to nail down a place in the first XI in recent weeks and that’s due to the injuries to both Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay and he could go back to his role as a backup midfield option once the two aforementioned midfielders return to the team later this month. He has six months remaining on his contract and Red Devils officials might decide to let him leave the club for free this summer.
2. Jesse Lingard
The England international has been a shadow of himself on the pitch this season as demonstrated by his inability to score or assist any Premier League goal for over a year. He was linked with AC Milan in the winter transfer window.
3. Phil Jones
Another England international that has performed poorly whenever he was given the opportunity to play this season. This campaign could be the last one for him.
