Manchester United are in the middle of their worst spell in front of goal in the English Premier League (epl) this season after failing to score a single goal in each of their last three games in English top flight football.

The barren spell has flatten their Champions League push but there’s still plenty of time to turn things around with 13 games still to play before this league season draws to a close.

This lean spell came after their most comprehensive victory of the season, 5-0 win over basement club Norwich City at home and also coincided with the back injury sustained by leading goalscorer Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester United forward won’t play again until March as a result of that back problem.

He has 14 goals in the Premier League and his team has struggled to score even a goal since his unfortunate injury sustained during a collision with Wolves defender Matt Doherty during their FA Cup third round replay at Old Trafford which Manchester United won 1-0 courtesy a Juan Mata strike.

In the last league game which was incidentally against Wolves at home, Manchester United were toothless for the majority of the game as Anthony Martial was a lone figure upfront.

The Frenchman hardly had any opportunity to feast on and he would be better served with the presence of another striker alongside him.

Martial worked well with Rashford before his injury last month and he could forge the same productive understanding with Odion Ighalo who has been brought in to fill the void left in the Red Devils attack by the injury to Academy product Rashford.

Odion Ighalo already as Premier League experience from his time at Watford and he would certainly guarantee goals for his new club especially if his partnership kicks off with Martial well.

The 30-year-old has joined Manchester United on loan for the remainder of this campaign.
