Some Chelsea players have benefitted from the long inactivity of the club in the transfer window to push themselves into contention for the seasonal awards in the Premier League for this campaign which has just 13 more weeks to run.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard assumed his position at the club last summer and he had no option but to play the young players this season after the transfer ban last year.
FIFA punished the Blues with a ban for two transfer bans after they were alleged to have broken rules relating to the signing of players under the age of 18.
Young players like Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Recce James and many more have been given several opportunities to stake a claim for a regular shirt in the first team this season by Frank Lampard. Some players took that opportunity, while others didn’t perform to the expectations of their manager and club fans.

The transfer ban has since been lifted by CAS in December 2019 thus freeing up Chelsea to sign players freely once again but the Blues didn’t make the most of that freedom after failing to boost their squad in the just concluded winter transfer window.
Their transfer targets were not available in the window last month and that led to their inactivity in the transfer market with the club now fixed on signing new players this summer.
Some of the young players given their opportunities to shine by Frank Lampard are in contention for the Player of the Year Award, especially in the ‘Young Player’s category. Here are a few of them:
1. Tammy Abraham
Chelsea have been able to rely on the goalscoring attributes of Tammy Abraham who has led the line superbly for the Blues this season upon his return from a loan spell at Aston Villa last season.
2 Reece James
The England junior international has made the right-back spot his own since returning to the club last summer from a Wigan Athletic loan spell.
