EPL: The Top Three Chelsea Best Performers This Season Revealed

0

Chelsea have had a good season till date under rookie manager Frank Lampard who took charge of the team last summer after his successful one-year spell at Derby County in the English Championship.

Lampard got his first managerial job at Derby County and the Chelsea legend impressed a lot of football stakeholders as he led the Rams to the Championship playoffs before they were beaten in the final by Aston Villa.

His impressive performance as the Derby County manager played a major role in him being named the new Blues boss last summer and he has been able to achieve results amidst the lack of new signings.

The West Londoners were banned from signing players last year, while they opted not to sign players in the just concluded winter transfer window.

Chelsea are in fourth position which is the last place for Champions League qualification ahead of next season and they have a six-point advantage over the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers in fifth, sixth and seventh positions with 34 points from 24 league games.

Lampard and Chelsea are also in the FA Cup fifth round where they will host the winner of the FA Cup fourth round replay between Liverpool and League One club Shrewsbury Town. In addition, Chelsea will face German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the round of 16 of the Champions League later this month.

Here are the top three performers at Chelsea this season:

1. Tammy Abraham:

The England international has stepped up for Chelsea this season upon his return from a successful loan spell at Aston Villa whom he helped to secure Premier League promotion. He has scored 15 goals in all competitions including 13 league goals.

2. Mateo Kovacic:

The Croatian World Cup finalist has been in very good form for Chelsea since his transfer was made permanent last summer in a £40m deal. He was on loan from Real Madrid last season.

3. Willian:

The Brazilian international has been the assist provider for Chelsea this season.
