Brazilian Serie A club Flamengo have announced the departure of first choice defender Pablo Mari who’s expected to join Premier League giants Arsenal in the coming hours.
Arsenal and Flamengo have reached an agreement for the player to join the Gunners on loan until this summer with the option to sign him permanently.
Spanish center-back Pablo Mari had traveled to London for his medical at Arsenal at the weekend in the company of Sporting director Edu before the player returned to Brazil amidst the widespread media reports that the deal for him to join the Gunners had collapsed after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

That position has changed on the last day and the player will now join Arsenal on loan till this summer before the Gunners have the opportunity to exercise their option to sign him or not.
Pablo Mari would be the first signing of the Mikel Arteta era at Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta became the Arsenal manager in December after former boss Unai Emery had been dismissed in November for poor performance.
Since taking charge of the team, Mikel Arteta has won three games, drawn four and lost just one from the eight games played.
