Frank Lampard and Chelsea have been warned about signing West Ham United defender Issa Diop who is a top defensive target for the Blues as per the widespread reports from several media outlets in the United Kingdom.

Chelsea were told to stay away from the young French center-back by former player Rob Green while he was on BBC Radio Five Live.

According to him, Chelsea need to spend that money on other areas of the team as they already have three good young central defenders.

The Blues already have the likes of Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Fikayo Tomori in that area of the team in addition to the experienced Antonio Rudiger.

Rob Green is a former Premier League shot-stopper who featured for both Chelsea and West Ham United.

He wants Chelsea to spend money on more pressing needs in the squad.

Chelsea are yet to make any signing this month despite the fact that the Champions League campaigners have been given the go-ahead to sign players after their transfer embargo was lifted.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has a transfer kitty of £150m to spend on new players and £50m-rated Issa Diop is one of the players being courted.
