Dayot Upamecano

Highly rated RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is a long-term transfer target for Arsenal dating back to last summer when the clubs held negotiations over the French centre back.

Arsenal had a €60m bid turned down for French u-21 international Dayot Upamecano last summer as the German club held out for around €100m.

The Gunners are expected to make a move for Dayot Upamecano this summer according to the publication from Goal which stated that RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano could be available for just £40m as the Guinean-born French player would have just one year left on his current deal at the German club.

Dayot Upamecano is also attracting the interest of other European clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The RB Leipzig player is not the only defender linked with the Gunners.

The likes of Bayern Munich centre back Jerome Boateng and Juventus defender Merih Demirel have been linked with the Gunners.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster his squad with a quality defender that would improve the defensive situation at the club.

The Gunners have conceded 30 goals in just 21 league games.

Arsenal loanee and highly rated centre back William Saliba will also return to boost the team from his loan spell at French top-flight side Saint Etienne.
