Europa League holders Chelsea are interested in a free transfer deal for Napoli attacker Dries Mertens according to the report from the stables of renowned French publication Le10 Sport.

It was revealed that the Blues are eyeing a free transfer deal for Dries Mertens this summer.

The Belgian international has six months left on his Napoli deal at the moment and it is not looking like his contract will be were extended by the Italian outfit.

Dries Mertens can start to talk to foreign clubs about signing on a free transfer since he has six months remaining on his contract.

Inter Milan are also keen to sign Dries Mertens on a free transfer later this year.

Belgian attacker Dries Mertens has not been a regular for Napoli this season unlike the previous seasons when he was the main man for the Champions League last 16 recipients.

Dries Mertens is a player that can function well as the central striker in addition to faring well in any of the attacking roles behind the main target man.

At the age of 33, Dries Mertens would want the assurance of at least a two-year contract in addition to a sign-on fee and a big bonus.
