Reigning Europa League champions Chelsea are closing in on the signing of a centre back in this January transfer market as revealed by Sky Sports.
According to experienced journalist Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports, agents brokering the deal are quietly confident that the transfer will go through.
It was revealed that the centre back in question is from a rival Premier League team.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has prioritised his defence as the area of concentration for transfers this month and it is not surprising as the Blues have struggled defensively this season.

The Blues have conceded 29 league goals this season thus placing him as the joint eighth best record defensively which is not good enough especially if their defensive record is compared with the title challengers like Leicester City, Liverpool and Manchester City.
The chief transfer target on the defensive front for Chelsea is Nathan Ake who was their former player before the Dutchman signed for Bournemouth in 2017 after a successful six-month loan spell at the Vitality Stadium.
He was signed by Bournemouth for just £20m and the Dutch international has been their best centre back since signing.
Apart from Ake, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard also wants to sign Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell but he might need to wait till the summer.
