West Ham United legend Tony Cottee has faulted Chelsea manager Frank Lampard as the man responsible for the shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton in their Premier League clash on Boxing Day.

Frank Lampard and his Chelsea players suffered another shocking defeat to a Saints team battling with relegation.

The latest defeat makes it five defeats in the last seven Premier League games for Chelsea as well as three losses from the last four league games at home.

In his reaction to the defeat, Tony Cottee said that Chelsea manager Frank Lampard got his tactics wrong after he started a three-man defence thereby isolating central striker Tammy Abraham who was starved of chances.

He further said that Frank Lampard tweaked his tactics at the start of the second half but it was not enough to save him and Chelsea from am embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Saints who ended their long winless run against the Blues with the result.

Southampton took a shock lead in the first half through a wonder goal from Michael Obafemi who was given the nod in attack ahead of leading scorer Danny Ings.

Topscorer Danny Ings was rested for the home game with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Nathan Redmond sealed the result for the Saints in the second half.
