The Arsenal defence has been under serious scrutiny in the past years and managers including the legendary Arsene Wenger have not been able to find a lasting solution to the defensive issues but the Gunners Faithfuls are hopeful that new manager Mikel Arteta would be able to get a grip on their shaky defence.
Mikel Arteta is still very new in his job as the Arsenal manager but he has already informed the club’s hierarchy about needing three players including two centre backs.
According to the ESPN, Mikel Arteta wants to sign Lille defender Gabriel to solve the defensive issues in the Arsenal team since Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly won’t come cheap.

Arteta has been told by the club bosses that transfer funds are not readily available next month thus ruling out a possible January swoop for Senegalese international Koulibaly who’s widely regarded as one of the best five centre backs in world football.
Lille centre back Gabriel represents a cheaper option for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta as he can be signed for a bargain deal since the Brazilian has 18 months on his present contract with his French Ligue 1 club.
He has made 23 appearances for Lille this season including six Champions League games.
