Premier League newcomers Aston Villa are interested in signing Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida during the upcoming winter transfer window in January.

This is according to the reports emanating from the Turkish media.

Aston Villa are targeting defensive reinforcements especially due to the injury suffered by first-choice centre back Tyrone Mings during the Leicester City game at the weekend.

Tyrone Mings is a recently capped England international and he suffered a hamstring injury in the 23rd minute of the Premier League clash at home to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon and was replaced by Bjorn Engels.

Surprise team of the season Leicester City were able to close the gap on Liverpool to eight points following the convincing win over hosts Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Turkish football revealed that Aston Villa want to strengthen their defence with Croatian international centre back Domagoj Vida who was previously linked with a move to Arsenal.

Vida has been touted as a potential transfer addition to the Arsenal squad since last summer when he played a key role for the Croatian national team as they reached the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

The Croatian defender was also linked with Arsenal this summer.

Bottom Premier League club Watford are also interested in signing him.
