Chelsea have been handed a massive boost in their chase of highly rated Queens Park Rangers (QPR) midfielder Eberechi Eze following the news that London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are out of the running for the young player.
According to The Sun, recently sacked Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino was eyeing a transfer for Nigerian midfielder Eberechi Eze in the January transfer window next month but that would no longer be possible as a result of his exit.
Ex-Chelsea and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has replaced Mauricio Pochettino as the Tottenham Hotspur manager.
Mauricio Pochettino spent over five years at Spurs until the end of last month when the North London club pulled the plug on his appointment.

Nigerian midfielder Eberechi Eze has light up the English Championship with his performances for QPR and that has led to the interest of four Premier League clubs including Spurs.
Chelsea, West Ham United and Leicester City at the other teams.
These three English top-flight sides are left in the hunt to sign Eze in January with the managerial change at Spurs affecting the situation of things.
Chelsea will have to overcome their transfer ban to have a chance of signing the player next month.
The Blues already have their transfer ban case lodged at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) since they claim innocence over the offense of violating FIFA rules relating to the signing of underage players.
