North London giants Arsenal should have signed a world-class defender in the summer.
This is according to former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) star Martin Allen who slammed the transfer business conducted by the Gunners in the summer while he was on TalkSports at the weekend.
According to him, Arsenal would have been better off with a world-class centre back.
Martin Allen said that the Gunners should have spent the £72m transfer fee on summer signing Nicolas Pepe elsewhere.
Arsenal would have improved with the £72m spent on a quality defender.

Summer signing Pepe has failed to light up the Emirates Stadium as expected with the Ivorian international still waiting for his first goal from open play for the Gunners.
He has already scored three goals this season but they all came from setpieces.
Nicholas Pepe joined Arsenal from French Ligue 1 club Lille this summer and he scored his first goal during the Premier League comeback win over Aston Villa.
He scored a penalty in the game at the Emirates Stadium which ended in a 3-2 win for 10-man Arsenal.
Pepe then came off the bench to score two freekicks to rescue his team from defeat against Portuguese club Vitoria Guimares at home in the Europa League.
With Arsenal trailing 2-1, Pepe scored twice in the last ten minutes to give the Gunners a 3-2 victory.
