Arsenal Player Returns To Action After Club Woes

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was back in action for the first time since the fans faceoff at the Emirates Stadium but it was in the colours of his country Switzerland.

Granit Xhaka played the entire duration of the game as Switzerland took a big step towards qualifying for Euro 2020 with a priceless win over Georgia at home in Group D.

Switzerland beat Gerogia 1-0 at home courtesy the goal from second half substitute Cedric Itten.

The FC Basel of Switzerland midfielder scored the lone goal on 77 minutes almost immediately after he replaced West Ham United striker Alban Ajeti.

The win ensured that Switzerland are up to one place and into second position on the table with 14 points ahead of the Republic of Ireland (12 points) and behind group leaders Denmark (15 points).

A win over hosts Gibraltar in their last group match billed for Monday will definitely guarantee a place in the tournament proper next year.

Granit Xhaka has not played for Arsenal since his rant towards the club fans during the Premier League game at home to London rivals Crystal Palace.

The Swiss international was stripped off his captaincy duties at Arsenal by manager Unai Emery.

He missed the Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool, Vitoria Guimares and Leicester City games.
