It’s no longer news that Jose Mourinho is the new manager at Tottenham Hotspur after his appointment was confirmed last week but the latest news emanating from the club is the struggle to hang on to the key players in the first team including Christian Eriksen.
Danish international Eriksen was a key player for Tottenham Hotspur before this season but his contractual situation has led to him being dropped from his status as one of the first players on the teamsheet.
The former Ajax Amsterdam playmaker was benched for the majority of the games played under sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino and the same fate was recorded in the first game of new manager Jose Mourinho at the weekend.
Christian Eriksen was benched for the game against hosts West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as Jose Mourinho started his managerial career at Spurs via a 3-2 victory.

On his contractual situation at the club, the publication from Corriere dello Sport said that new manager Jose Mourinho Won’t stand in his way if his stance is still to leave Tottenham Hotspur despite his arrival.
Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has already changed his mind about leaving the club next summer as he wants to sign a new contract mainly due to arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Both Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen have a little over six months left on their respective Spurs contract.
