Three-time European champions Manchester United have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window in the New Year.

Jose Mourinho was adversely affected by a lack of a new central defender at the start of last season before being sacked by Manchester United after a poor start to the campaign.
The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss was sacked as the Manchester United manager on the back of the loss at the hands of arch rivals Liverpool.
