Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has called on manager Unai Emery to take the armband from current recipient Granit Xhaka after his spat with the fans.

Ian Wright made this known while he was speaking on Premier League TV.

According to him, Swiss international captain Granit Xhaka should be taken off his role as the Arsenal skipper.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already said that Granit Xhaka won’t be involved in the squad for the Premier League game at home to fellow Europa League campaigners Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.

Granit Xhaka will miss the game against Wolves at the Emirates Stadium according to Spanish tactician Unai Emery.

The Swiss midfielder is in his fourth season at Arsenal since his £35m move from German Bundesliga league leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach in the summer of 2016.

He was involved in a spat with the Arsenal fans while being substituted during the league game at home to Crystal Palace in what was a London Derby clash played at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The incident happened as Xhaka slowly walked off the pitch to be substituted for young attacker Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal were disappointing as they lost a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with the Eagles.
