Premier League leaders Liverpool would be hoping to maintain their six-point lead at the top of the table ahead of the trip to Aston Villa especially before the upcoming blockbuster clash with title rivals Manchester City.

Liverpool host defending champions Manchester City at Anfield next weekend and the Reds have set their sights on three points against Premier League newcomers Aston Villa to at least maintain their lead at the top of the table before the meeting with the Citizens.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes for the Carabao Cup fourth round win over North London giants Arsenal in midweek and he’s expected to revert back to the starting XI for the league game at the home of Midlands club Aston Villa.

Despite the numerous changes to the Liverpool starting XI for the Arsenal game on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, the Reds were able to see off the Gunners on penalties after the two teams shared ten goals at the end of regulation time.

The Reds will face Aston Villa in the quarterfinals.

Liverpool XI vs Aston Villa (4-3-3): Alisson Becker; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum; Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Brazilian international attacker Roberto Firmino.
