Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka will miss out on the 18-man squad for the Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This is according to Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

The Spanish tactician confirmed that Granit Xhaka won’t be in the Matchday squad for the home game against fellow Europa League campaigners Wolverhampton Wanderers due to his recent clash with the Arsenal fans in the last league game.

Xhaka used foul words on the Arsenal fans during the Crystal Palace game on Sunday as the Gunners lost a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home to the Eagles in the London Derby clash.

The Swiss international skipper reacted to the Arsenal fans at the Emirates Stadium while he was being booed for walking off the pitch slowly as he was subbed off for young winger Bukayo Saka.

It remains to be seen whether Granit Xhaka will retain his position as the Arsenal captain though he has apologized to the fans via a statement released by him on Thursday evening.

Unai Emery confirmed his absence from the Wolves game during his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon having also missed the Carabao Cup fourth round loss to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Arsenal crashed out of the Carabao Cup on penalties after the two teams played out a 5-5 draw.
