Chelsea have closed the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool after their win over Burnley away from home in their league clash on Saturday evening.

The Blues needed to win to continue their recent winning run and that was what they did.

Chelsea beat hosts Burnley 4-2 to move to within five points of leaders Liverpool in the Premier League table.

New manager Frank Lampard has done a remarkable job within a short space of time as the new Chelsea boss despite the fact that his reign started with a 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of this Premier League campaign.

Against Burnley, American international Christian Pulisic was the star of the show after he scored a perfect hattrick.

The former Borussia Dortmund attacker scored the first goal for the first time with his left foot to fire Chelsea in front before he doubled the lead just before the halftime interval with right-footed shots.

Pulisic completed his hattrick at the start of the second half for the Blues third goal of the game before Willian added a fourth goal.

Burnley fought back with two late goals through Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil but it was too little too late for the hosts.

Chelsea are up to 20 points on the league table and five points from Liverpool who have 25 points having played a game less than the Blues.
