Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has played down transfer rumors linking him with a move to the Premier League when the transfer market reopens next year.

This is according to the publication from popular British media outlet TalkSports which revealed that the Croatian international player is not keen to move his family away from his base in Spain.

Ivan Rakitic has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days as the Red Devils try to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.

Manchester United are currently languishing in the bottom places on the Premier League table and they are looking to boost their playing squad.

Rakitic was earlier linked with Chelsea and Manchester United during the summer but nothing happened as he stayed on to fight for his place at Barcelona.

He has moved from a first team player to a fringe player at Barcelona since the start of this season following the summer arrival of Frenkie De Hong from Ajax Amsterdam FC of the Netherlands.

Barcelona paid Ajax around 75 million euros for the transfer of Dutch international De Jong.

Ivan Rakitic has less than two years left on his Barcelona contract at the moment.
