Premier League champions Manchester City have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their Champions League duel with Dinamo Zagreb FC of Croatia following the news that influential playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has sustained a groin injury.

Manchester City will host the Croatians at the Etihad Stadium in a Matchday 2 clash and Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne will be a notable absentee for the Premier League champions.

De Bruyne has a groin injury according to the official statement from Manchester City.

The former Chelsea player got the injury from the Premier League game against Everton at the weekend.

He was one of the best players on the pitch as Manchester City recorded a 3-1 away win over the Toffees to close the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool to five points.

Kevin De Bruyne is a doubt for the upcoming Premier League game with Wolves at the Etihad Stadium as well as the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers for the Belgian national team.

The Belgian national team player has started the new Premier League season very well and he currently leads the assist chart.

He has eight assists in just seven league games this season.

De Bruyne missed the majority of last season as a result of injury.
