Premier League legend Martin Keown has downgraded Manchester United ahead of their league meeting with Liverpool this weekend.

Martin Keown is a former Arsenal defender who was part of history at the club during his playing career with the Gunners.

He was part of the Arsenal team that went through the entire Premier League campaign without a single loss during the 2003/04 season.

The ex-England international player downgraded Manchester United in his column for the Daily Mail as he described the fallen Premier League giants as a midtable team ahead of their home league meeting with arch rivals Liverpool.

Manchester United are the most successful team in the history of the Premier League with 11 titles.

Chelsea and Manchester City are the next teams in terms of Premier League title wins with five and four respectively.

Martin Keown went on to describe how the standards have fallen at Manchester United before adding that only summer signing Harry Maguire will make his combined XI of Liverpool and Manchester United players.

Ahead of the game with league leaders Liverpool, Manchester United are without a win in three games in the Premier League and five games in all competition.

They are in the bottom half of the table as things stand.
