Solskjaer and his players are obviously in a tough time as they are just two points from relegation zone after playing five games without a victory in all competitions.

The poor run of results has led to calls for the Glazers’ resignation among the club’s Faithfuls who want to see one of their favorite stars Edwin Van der Sar at the helm of affairs.

Meanwhile, the former goalkeeper has turned down the chance to return to Old Trafford – at least for now.

According to the Dutchman who currently serves as Ajax’s chief executive, it will be great to return to Old Trafford but he still wants to remain with the Eredivisie giants.

Van der Sar, who is the oldest goalkeeper to have won Premier League glory, revealed his love for the Red Devils but admitted he still has a lot to learn at Ajax before moving to a club that is as big as the Old Trafford club.

He said in an interview with the press: “I am a chief executive – and that is a very different role to director of football.

“Besides my wife and children, I have two loves in my life. They are Ajax and Manchester United. Ajax scouted me, gave me the chance to become their No 1 goalkeeper.

“Manchester United gave me the chance to make even bigger steps and develop at an even higher level. So of course I am interested in a position at United.”

“But I think I need to learn a little bit more about myself as a chief executive at Ajax and develop myself even further. United is a fantastic club. So let’s see what the future brings.” he concluded.

Solskjaer and his men have a very huge mountain to climb as they welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford immediately after the ongoing international break.
