Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given an injury update on star midfielder N’Golo Kante ahead of their Champions League meeting with Lille on Wednesday night.

French Ligue 1 club Lille play host to Chelsea in what’s a Matchday 2 clash in the Champions League.

In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Frank Lampard said that Kante will be assessed before the Lille game to determine his availability.

According to him, the Frenchman is fit having come through training unscathed ahead of the crucial Lille clash.

N’Golo Kante has had a frustrating start to the new season mainly because of injury.

He missed the last Chelsea game which was the 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Jorginho (penalty) and Willian were the goalscorers for Chelsea as the Blues recorded their first win at home this season at the fifth time of asking.

It was the first win at home for Chelsea since club legend Frank Lampard was appointed as the new manager in the summer.

The win took Chelsea into the top seven on the Premier League table.

Frank Lampard and his players can’t afford any more slip-ups ahead of the Lille game having already lost their Champions League opener to Valencia.
