How Barcelona Missed Out On Man Utd Defender This Summer

The agent of Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof, Hasan Cetinkaya, has revealed that Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona were interested in signing his client during this summer’s transfer window.

Mason Cetinkaya confirmed the Catalan giants’ interest in Victor Lindelof in an exclusive interview with Aftonbladet.

It was revealed that Victor Lindelof was the first choice for Barcelona after they missed out on signing Dutch international centre back Matthijs De Ligt.

Victor Lindelof could have joined Barcelona this summer but he opted to stay at the Theatre of Dreams and he has also penned a new contract to secure his long-term future at the club.

Barcelona missed out on the aforementioned De Ligt who moved to Italian champions Juventus from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam.

Juventus paid around $100m to secure the signing of Matthijs De Ligt thus making him the third most expensive defender in the history of World football.

Only the duo of Manchester United defender Harry Maguire and Liverpool centre back Virgil Van Dijk are more expensive than De Ligt.

Victor Lindelof has formed a potent centre back partnership with Harry Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence.

He has helped the Red Devils keep two clean sheets this season.
