Best Player Award: FIFA Speaks Against Vote-rigging For Messi

World football’s governing body FIFA has released a statement to debunk allegations that voting for the FIFA Men’s Best Player Award was rigged for Barcelona skipper Lionel Messi.
The FIFA statement was released earlier on Thursday and it is coming back of the allegation made by Nicaragua national team captain Juan Barrera who said that he didn’t vote for Lionel Messi.
FIFA has told the Nicaragua FA to investigate the matter after the votes submitted by the association had Messi in it for Juan Barrera.
Argentine national team player Messi has now won six FIFA Best Player Awards.
This is a record as the latest win took him past Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who’s on five FIFA Best Player Awards.

Lionel Messi won the award ahead of Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk and Juventus attacker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Messi had 46% ahead of Van Dijk who had 38%.
Cristiano Ronaldo came in third position with 36%.
Lionel Messi had a very good season in the last campaign.
He finished the Spanish La Liga season as the leading goalscorer at the end of the campaign.
Messi and Barcelona retained the Spanish La Liga title.
The Argentine international skipper also finished as the topscorer in the Champions League.
