Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has narrated how he convinced young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi to commit his future to the club.
Lampard talked about Callum Hudson-Odoi during his pre-match press conference ahead of the Liverpool game billed for Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
The Chelsea boss told reporters during his pre-match presser on Friday morning that one of his targets after becoming the Blues manager was to ensure that Callum Hudson-Odoi commits his long-term future to the club amidst the numerous transfer reports linking him with a move to the likes of German champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Callum Hudson-Odoi considered leaving during the January transfer window after he found playing time hard to come by while Maurizio Sarri was the Chelsea manager in the first half of last season.
The young England international handed in a transfer request but it was rejected by Chelsea.
Sarri gave him more playing time in the second half of the season before his injury during a Premier League game in April.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is certain of more playing time under new manager Frank Lampard and that has prompted him to commit his future to the club via a five-year contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.
