His injury status was confirmed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning.
Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening in a week six encounter in the Premier League and Naby Keita could return to the Reds squad for the game.
Naby Keita has not played for Liverpool this season due to the injury he sustained while he was on international duty with the Guinean national team at this year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt.

Jurgen Klopp also said that first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker is progressing well from the injury that he sustained on the opening day of the new Premier League season.
Alisson Becker suffered an Achilles injury during the first league game of the season against newly promoted outfit Norwich City which ended in a 4-1 home win for the Reds.
Summer signing and second choice shot-stopper Adrian has been deputizing for Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal and he is set to continue for the away game at Chelsea.
