Real Madrid have moved to second spot on the Spanish La Liga table after the narrow win over Levante earlier on Saturday in what was a week four encounter.

The immediate past European champions edged a five-goal thriller with Levante to move three places up the Spanish La Liga table.

Real Madrid raced into a two-goal as at the halftime hour mark through the in-form Karim Benzema who has now scored five league goals this season.

Casemiro added a third goal for Real Madrid with five first half minutes left to play as the Los Merengues established a commanding lead at the halftime interval.

Real Madrid took their foot off the gas in the second half and they were almost punished for it.

Levante scored two goals in the second half through former Real Madrid man Borja Mayoral and substitute Gonzalo Melero to put pressure on the home side.

Real Madrid then held on to take the three points at stake thus moving above the likes of Levante, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao to second position with eight points from the first four games of the new league season.

Another positive for Real Madrid is the return of Eden Hazard from injury.

He came on for his Real Madrid debut on the hour mark.
