Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams has revealed that Premier League giants Manchester United contacted him before he signed a new contract with the Basque outfit this summer.
Inaki Williams talked about Manchester United in a chat with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser as he said that he won’t reveal the identity of who reached out to him on behalf of Manchester United.
Manchester United wanted to sign Inaki Williams as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku who joined Inter Milan in a £74m deal this summer.
In the end, the Red Devils were unable to pull off a deal for Inaki Williams who would have strengthened their forward options.

Manchester United were further weakened in their attack by the exit of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez who signed for Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan on a 10-month loan deal.
Alexis Sanchez has linked with former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro.
After taking the decision to stay at Athletic Bilbao amidst the interest from Manchester United, Inaki Williams was rewarded with a nine-year contract with a release clause of £125m.
In the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have led the line for Manchester United this season.
