Atletico Madrid have opened a healthy lead on their title rivals at the top of the Spanish La Liga table after the third set of league matches in the new season.
The Spanish capital club maintained their perfect start to the season with a win over Eibar at home.
The victory was not straightforward for Atletico Madrid who had to come from two goals down to beat Eibar 3-2 for their third successive win at the start of the new Spanish La Liga season.
Atletico Madrid have started the season well in their quest to win a first league title in six years.
Eibar went two goals up through Charles and Anaitz Arbilla before Atletico Madrid battled back with three goals to win the game including a stoppage time strike from Ghanaian international Thomas Partey.
Joao Felix is the record signing at Atletico Madrid and he pulled one back for his team before Vitolo leveled proceedings for the Spanish capital outfit paving the way for Partey to score the winning goal.
Atletico Madrid lead the league with nine points from the three games played ahead of Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla with seven points.
Levante are in fourth position with six points, while Atletico Madrid’s city rivals and title rivals Real Madrid are in fifth position with five points after their 2-2 draw at Villarreal on Sunday.
Title favourites and defending champions Barcelona are in the eighth position with four points.
Which of these players would be sacrificed for Partey
The reports of Arsenal’s interest in Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey is unending with claims that the Gunners have stepped up their chase for the Ghana International midfielder.
A move for the midfielder is being threatened by funds and the North London outfit are busy with how to sanction the deal, according to The Mail.
While a swap deal is being considered, the names of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Alexandre Lacazette have also continued to pop up.
Should that be the case, one of them will be part of the swap deal for Arsenal to succeed in snapping up the player.
The question of who to sacrifice and unwanted at the club has been the bone of contention.

Guendouzi at the moment is not finding life interesting at the Emirates Stadium as a result of the controversies he has been into, the reason why he has been left out of the squad for a couple of games. He is reported to have told the club hierarchy of his decision to leave the club.
Maybe he should pave way for the Ghana international since they play almost the same role on the pitch and Partey is a more preferred player.
Surprisingly, Alexandre Lacazette is always mentioned as names of those that should leave the club despite his quality and goal scoring ability. No doubt that most fans will not wish to see this happen.
Also, Lucas Torriera has been fantastic in his own right, despite battling with injuries but there are no doubts of his quality in the central midfield.
The decision would be left to the Arsenal management to make on who should be sacrificed.
The truth about Thomas Partey’s transfer speculations to Arsenal
Some weeks ago, Arsenal fans were filled with joy and its expression on the social media over the speculations that Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey will be switching to the Emirates Stadium this summer transfer window.
That has been on the low for the past days for reasons unknown but should Arsenal fans forget the possibility of the deal?
Reports from Spanish media claim the player is interested in the Premier League and Arsenal with a fee of £45 million.
Considering the issues at Arsenal; Granit Xhaka’s injury and the poor results, there is no doubt about an addition to the heart of the Arsenal team for Spanish manager Mikel Arteta to be able to deliver more wins.

However, the defensive woes the Gunners have suffered in their last two games could change the priority in the summer transfer window, especially now that goalkeeper Bernd Leno is feared to be out for a longer period after his injury at Brighton.
In addition, Arsenal must be realistic about their financial strength in securing a deal for the young lad, knowing his price tag and other transfer needs.
It is feared that the report on Partey might just end as mere speculations because of the need for Arteta to equip his defence than any other position no wonder, Spanish manager Arteta is already considering Bukayo Saka for a role in the midfield because of the urgency and options available.
Tottenham are also in the chase of Partey but seem unconvinced about his worth for £45 million despite claims that Atletico are willing to let him go.
Why Manchester United Must Saul Niguez This Summer
One of the biggest transfer questions this summer is the future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba at Old Trafford. The time might be right for the player to leave Manchester United finally.
Paul Pogba’s commitment to Manchester United has been heavily questioned in the past months especially after he publicly admitted that he wants to leave the club that trained him for the second time. The Manchester United Academy graduate left the club for Juventus when he was a teenager before returning four years later in 2016.
Two major C-factors have led to the general consensus that this summer is the best time for Pogba to leave. The first factor is his commitment to the Red Devils as pointed out earlier.
The second factor is his contract which will run out in 2022. Manchester United must sell him this summer if they want to receive more than the £89m paid to sign him from Juventus in 2016 since he’s unlikely to sign a new deal at the Theatre of Dreams.

Manchester United don’t need to worry too much about a potential replacement for Paul Pogba with Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez available for a transfer as long as the club is willing to spend money amidst the financial uncertainties caused by COVID 19.
Saul Niguez has a release clause of £138m in his current Atletico Madrid contract and that’s the major requirement for Manchester United to sign him as long as they are able to convince the player about joining them.
The first main reason why Manchester United need to sign the 25-year-old Spanish international this summer is his quality. He has shown that he has the quality to replace a World Cup winner like Pogba via his performances for Atletico Madrid since making his debut for the club in 2012.
Another reason is his consistency. Unlike Paul Pogba who has battled with injuries in the last two years, Saul Niguez has hardly being injured over the course of his Atletico Madrid career.
Lastly, Saul Niguez is the most rated on the list of midfield targets being scrutinised by Manchester United this summer.
Transfer Ratings: Alexandre Lacazette To Atletico Madrid (Swap Deal)
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has had to deny the transfer rumours linking him with a move to Spain this summer with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid said to be interested in him. According to the French international, his long-term future is at the Emirates Stadium but as we all know that the transfer market is fickle and anything could happen between now and next season.
Atletico Madrid have previously expressed public interest in the player especially when he was at Lyon. Lacazette could have signed for the Rojiblancos shortly before he joined Arsenal in 2017.
The latest interest in him from the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium is in the form a possible swap deal with Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey who is a serious person of interest to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Ghanaian international midfielder Partey is high on the list of targets for the Gunners as per the reports in the United Kingdom (UK) media.

Arteta wants to rebuild his midfield ahead of next season and Lacazette could be sacrificed to get Partey to do the job needed in the Arsenal midfield. Partey has shone for his club this season and they have an able replacement for him in the shape of Marcos Llorente who was responsible for the downfall of Liverpool in their Champions League round of 16 tie. Llorente scored twice as a substitute in extra time to send Atletico Madrid through to the quarters at the expense of the defending champions.
Alexandre Lacazette has spent three seasons at Arsenal including the current one which has been his poorest. He lost his place to young strikers Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah at various points of the season.
His loss of form led to calls for his sale from some section of the Arsenal fanbase. Atletico Madrid are the overwhelming favourites to sign him if he becomes available and a swap deal with Thomas Partey makes the transfer doable amidst its complexity.
Transfer Ratings for Alexandre Lacazette to Atletico Madrid in a swap deal with Thomas Partey: 4/10.
Why Thomas Partey Will Be A Good Signing For Arsenal
Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is firmly on the radar of Premier League heavyweight Arsenal ahead of the upcoming transfer market this summer. As a matter of fact, the Ghanaian international star has been under the watchful eyes of Arsenal and their scouts for some time.
Arsenal were said to be interested in Partey last summer and even had an informal discussion over a possible transfer but they were put off by his transfer fee. The interest has increased rapidly over the past months especially after his series of consistent cum impressive performances for his club this season.
Thomas Partey has remained a top target for Arsenal even with the appointment of a new manager in Mikel Arteta last year December. In the past few days, both Partey and Arsenal have been in the news about linking up this summer.
The player’s father was quoted via a local radio station in Ghana that the Atletico Madrid star has been in talks with Arsenal only for his representatives to deny that Thomas Partey has been in contact with the Gunners in what would be a big blow to Arsenal fans who are already rejoicing that they could see the player in their red and white colours as from next season.

Apart from the latest situation as mentioned above, Arsenal fans have to be worried about the club’s finances and the ability to be able to raise the £44m release clause in Thomas Partey’s Atletico Madrid contract amidst the current Coronavirus pandemic.
Arsenal fans are excited about Thomas Partey and they have every right to be via the following reasons:
1. Defensive Solidity – Thomas Partey will definitely add defensive solidity to an often porous Arsenal defence line. It must be pointed out that Arsenal have improved defensively since Arteta became their manager in December 2019.
2. Quality – Thomas Partey is a better midfield option compared to the ones currently at Arsenal. In addition, some Arsenal midfielders like Lucas Torreira, Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka still have their long-term future at the club unresolved.
3. Goal Threat – Xhaka and Torreira have played the majority of the games under Arteta and both players contributed little in goals and assists. Thomas Partey represents a better goal threat than the two regular midfield maestros at the centre of Arsenal’s midfield.
