Why Hazard Was Named Europa League Player Of The Season

Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has been named the Europa League player of the season.

The Belgian international was named the award recipient during the Europa League draw earlier on Friday.

Eden Hazard won the Europa League player of the season for the last campaign ahead of former Chelsea teammate Olivier Giroud and current teammate Luka Jovic.

Serbian international Luka Jovic was formerly on the books of German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt whom he helped to reach the semifinals of the Europa League last season.

Eden Hazard won the award for his stellar performances for Chelsea last season as he helped the Blues win the Europa League title via the victory over London rivals Arsenal.

Chelsea thrashed Arsenal 4-1 with Eden Hazard getting a brace in that final clash in Baku, Azerbaijan at the end of May.

It turned out to be his last game for Chelsea before moving to Real Madrid this summer.

Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard for a club-record deal worth €100m as part of the €300m plus signings made by the Los Merengues this summer.

Apart from Eden Hazard, Real Madrid also signed the aforementioned Luka Jovic in a €60m deal, Ferland Mendy in a €45m deal and many more.
