Liverpool goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has provided an update on the injury status of Reds goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
In a chat with The Athletic, John Achterberg revealed that Alisson Becker won’t recover in time for the league game against Arsenal.
Premier League leaders Liverpool, host Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening in one of the week three games and Alisson Becker will definitely miss the game as a result of a calf injury.
Alisson Becker sustained the injury on the opening day of the new Premier League season.
The Liverpool goalkeeper suffered the injury in the first half of the league game at home to Norwich City.
He was replaced by summer signing Adrian, as Liverpool thrashed Norwich City, starting their season on a winning note.
Alisson Becker was then ruled out for between four to six weeks.
John Achterberg is hopeful that Alisson Becker will be fit for the visit of Newcastle United after the international break.
Liverpool will host the Magpies in a week five game on September 14 and Alisson Becker is expected to make his return for the game.
For the Arsenal game, Adrian will continue to deputize for Alisson Becker.
