Xabi Alonso Predicted Team To Win Premier League Title

Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has predicted the team that will win the league title in the English top flight.

The ex-Liverpool player has predicted the team that will win the Premier League title and its not Manchester City.

Xabi Alonso made his prediction in a chat with BBC Sport as he backed his former club Liverpool for the title.

The ex-Spanish international midfielder is backing Liverpool despite the fact that the Reds lost out to Manchester City last season.

Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title by just a solitary point in the last campaign.

The Reds had 97 points while eventual champions Manchester City recorded 98 points to take the title for the second successive season.

Manchester City recorded 14 straight wins towards the end of last season to take the title.

Liverpool have started this season well and they are the early pacesetters after winning the first two Premier League matches.

The Reds are one of only two clubs to achieve the feat.

Arsenal are the other club to win the first two Premier League games of the season.

The two teams, Liverpool and Arsenal, will face each other in a week three fixture this season.

Champions League: Three Teams Confirmed For Knockout Stage

Three teams have already booked their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League this season after the completion of Matchday Four matches.

The trio of Juventus, PSG and Bayern Munich are through to the round of 16 after the end of Matchday Four games.

The group stage has six matchdays and the 32 teams still has two games each to go before it’s completed.

Italian Serie A giants Juventus have a three-point advantage at the top of Group D after the late win over Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

The victory took Juventus to 10 points from four Champions League games and also sealed their place in the knockout stage.

Aaron Ramsey and Aleksei Miranchuk scored for Juventus and Lokomotiv Moscow respectively in the first half which ended in a 1-1.

Douglas Costa came off the bench to scored the winning goal three minutes into added time.

In Group A, French champions PSG maintained their perfect record this season with a slim 1-0 win over Club Brugge FC of Belgium at home courtesy the first-half goal from Mauro Icardi.

PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas saved a penalty to preserve that lead which confirmed the last 16 spot.

German champions Bayern Munich are also through to the last 16 following the 2-0 home win over Greek club Olympiakos in Group B.

Ex-Schalke 04 boss Ralf Rangnick has also stayed away from the post.

The replacement for Niko Kovac at Bayern Munich is still far from being decided at the moment.

The former Germany captain revealed to Deutsche Welle that the Portuguese has a longtime interest in managing the Bavarians as he often asks questions about the Bundesliga Champions during his days at Old Trafford.

“I can imagine Mourinho in Germany. I remember he was always asking me about Bayern and the Bundesliga. During our away games, there was always Bundesliga on TV.

“He really knew every single player, even from the smaller teams. He was also learning German.” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese manager is also linked with Arsenal’s job following Unai Emery’s unimpressive start to the season.
