Ousmane Dembele

The agent of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, Moussa Sissoko, has reiterated that his client won’t leave the club this summer.

In a chat with popular French publication L’Equipe, the player’s agent revealed that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be a Barcelona player when the European transfer window closes at the start of next month.

Moussa Sissoko was reacting to news of a possible swap deal involving Ousmane Dembele and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) attacker Neymar.

As a matter of fact, Barcelona have offered the majority of their squad in the quest to re-sign Neymar.

PSG are demanding for at least £200m to sanction the sale of Neymar and Barcelona have attempted to offer their players at various times to breach the finance gap needed to sign the Brazilian international star.

Ousmane Dembele is in his third season at Barcelona following the move from German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

He was signed as a replacement for Neymar by Barcelona in the summer of 2017 but he has not really fulfilled his potentials at the Nou Camp partly due to injury.

The latest setback happened on Friday night after he sustained an injury during the Spanish La Liga game with Athletic Bilbao.

The injury of Bernd Leno could force North London outfit, Arsenal into the search for a new goalkeeper as the club can only boast of Emi Martinez.

Emiliano Martinez got the opportunity he has been waiting for in gold as he gave an impressive performance in the absence of Bernd Leno especially in the restart of the Premier League.

Most importantly is the fact that Emi Martinez helped the Gunners to win their 14th FA Cup title to earn a place in the Europa League next season but that has not stopped Arsenal from searching for a new goalkeeper, according to reports.

It is claimed that the North London outfit will move in for a backup goalkeeper to ensure their safety in the course of the coming season.

Dejan Iliev and Matt Macey have both been identified as the best options as a backup gaolkeeper with the North London club hoping to seal a deal for any of one that is available in the summer transfer window.

However, it is expected that Bernd Leno will return to take his place as the first-choice goalkeeper as e is rated as part of the top five goalkeepers in the English Premier League.

French outlet L’Equipe reports that the bid for Houssem Aouar has now been left very open to all interested suitors as Lyon are forced to part ways with him to be able to cushion the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the club.

English Premier League club, Man City are reported to be the only major contestants for Houssem Aouar with Pep Guardiola also making efforts to work with the 22-year-old after his side played against Lyon in the Champions League last season.

EPL: Arsenal set to face goalkeeping crisis

English Premier League club, Arsenal might be thrown into a goalkeeping crisis as Emiliano Martinez could dump the club in the summer transfer window.

The Argentina international came into the scene as the first-choice at the Emirates Stadium after Bernd Leno picked up an injury against Brighton in the Premier League encounter.

Emiliano Martinez in his short stint at the first-choice goalkeeper was impressive that it was difficult to notice the absence of Bernd Leno as he helped the Gunners to secure their 14th FA Cup title against Chelsea.

However, Emiliano Martinez has told the Arsenal board to assure him of a first-choice role or have him leave the club as he will not be willing to remain as a second choice if Bernd Leno returns.

This means the Gunners will be short of goalkeeping options should the Argentina international leave the club as getting a goalkeeper with such quality will be very difficult.

He stated that he has already shown the club that he can play and he would like to return for next season’s campaign with the assurance that he will be given the chance to do so.

Emiliano Martinez added that his target is to win the first-choice role as well as emerge as the first choice for the Argentina national team.

Willian

The speculated move of Brazilian international winger, Willian from Chelsea to Arsenal is now looking like it would happen with the latest developments in the news.

Chelsea’s boss, Frank Lampard is the first to raise the dust when he stated that Willian’s reported exit does not mean anything as he only shares a good relationship with Willian as a former teammate and now a manager.

According to him, the club will move on if the Brazilian should leave, recalling how the Blues team did not fall with the exit of Eden Hazard.

Frank Lampard’s statement has been interpreted as “giving up” on keeping Willian as he has made some efforts to have the club agree on new terms with the Brazilian.

However, Arsenal legend, Paul Merson backs the move for Willian as he stated that despite the age, football is all about now, and right now, the player is a great one.

According to him, it is unbelievable that the West London outfit will let a player with such quality leave the club, stressing that Willian will be an unbelievable signing for Arsenal.

It is, therefore, claimed that the Brazilian winger will earn about £100,000 per week at the Emirates Stadium and he will be at the club for three years, the terms that were not granted him by Chelsea.

Thomas Partey

A SunSports reporter, Mark Irwin has claimed that North London outfit Arsenal are poised to sign three players, including Thomas Partey, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Dani Ceballos this summer transfer window.

The report also claims that the Gunners will be spending £100 million to be able to achieve this transfer feat as they are hoping to cash in from the sale of Lucas Torreira, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Matteo Guendouzi, Mohamed Elneny, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Shkodran Mustafi this summer window.

However, the North London outfit are not sure of snapping two of their three main targets following the latest reports coming from their camps at Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid for Thomas Partey and Dani Ceballos respectively.

Atletico Madrid club president, Enrique Cerezo in an interview with TeleMadrid expressed confidence that the Ghana international midfielder will not be leaving the club this term, which means an agreement has not been reached with Arsenal on a deal.

He added that Thomas Partey can still be a key part of the club in the coming season despite claims that the player seeks a move away from the Spanish La Liga.

Also, the future of Dani Ceballos is yet to be decided as Real Madrid are yet to confirm his exit from the club because an option of a buy was not included in his loan deal which means both clubs have to begin fresh talks.

A former Arsenal and Man United player Robin Van Persie has returned to coaching as he is now part of the crew at Feyenoord.

Robin Van Persie is known to be loved at the Emirates Stadium and the Old Trafford for his impact when he was at the clubs. He is expected to now impact his knowledge on the younger players after his retirement at 37.

It would be recalled that he retired as a Feyenoord player last summer after winning 102 Holland caps and an earlier 11 years in the English Premier League.

However, he claimed to have been called by Feyenoord manager Advocaat Dick and he could not say no to former Rangers, Sunderland, and Dutch national team coach.

Robin Van Persie told the Feyenoord website that his role at the club is not an official one and could just be a striker coach to help the strikers in the club.

Although he is unsure if he would love to do the job of a coach from this very experience, he would definitely figure it out or quit before the start of the nest season campaign.

Robin Van Persie has been more prominent with pundit jobs since his retirement and seems to love it by the day.

Arsenal’s interest in Rodriguez reignited

James Rodriguez

Arsenal have continued to be linked with a move for out-of-favour Real Madrid star James Rodriguez and there are suggestions that a deal could be sealed this summer transfer window.

The Gunners interest was reported by SunSport’s Dave Fraser when he stated that Arsenal want to seal a deal for the player, adding that manager Mikel Arteta is hoping to have a summer overhaul which includes sales of players and incomings.

Already, Brazilian international, Philippe Coutinho has been mentioned as one of the players to join the club as well as Willian from West London outfit but more are still being expected like the James Rodriguez speculation.

However, Dave Fraser claims Arsenal’s bid for James Rodriguez would be a big mistake for the club if they are successful as he stated that the system of play, involving the 4-3-3, 3-4-3, and the 5-2-3 formations only accommodates two central midfielders and one holding midfielder which makes no room for the Real Madrid star.

According to him, this is the reason why Germany international, Mesut Ozil has been left redundant in the team, stressing that there could be a repeat with James Rodriguez.

He further laments that Mesut Ozil is paid £350,000 a week to sit on the bench and that could also happen with James Rodriguez if he joins.
