Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen has thrown his weight behind the Spanish champions after teammate Ousmane Dembele was heavily fined last month.

2018 World Cup winner Dembele was said to have been fined an amount of €100,000 after he turned up for training two hours late.

This happened just a day after the French international winger scored one of the goals to help Barcelona to a 4-0 win over Catalan rivals Espanyol.

Since his latest misdemeanor, Ousmane Dembele has recovered to produce his best form for Barcelona.

The former Rennes winger has scored three goals in his last two games (against Levante in the Spanish Copa Del Rey and Leganes in the Spanish La Liga.

Ter Stegen spoke about Dembele in a chat with German newspaper Sport Bild as he said that the club was right to punish his teammates for his poor punctuality and the 21-year-old will learn from his mistakes.

Ousmane Dembele has courted disciplinary problems at the club this season despite his superb form on the pitch in the colours of the Blaugrana.

He has become an important player for the Catalans since his big money move from German Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund at the start of last season.
