New Arsenal signing David Luiz has revealed what Chelsea manager Frank Lampard told him before making the decision to move across London during this summer’s transfer window.

In an interview with ESPN Brasil, David Luiz confirmed that he had a conversation with Frank Lampard before arriving at the decision to leave for Arsenal.

According to him, Frank Lampard had a different plan and he had to leave Chelsea as a result.

Reports claimed that the Brazilian international was made the fourth choice center-back by Frank Lampard with the likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.

David Luiz joined Arsenal in a deal reported to be around £8m.

The 32-year-old was the sixth and final signing of the summer for the Gunners.

He was handed a two-year contract until the end of the 2020/21 season.

David Luiz spent seven seasons over two spells either side of his time as a Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player.

He made his Arsenal debut on Saturday during the 2-1 win over Burnley in what was a Premier League game.

David Luiz played the entire duration of the game as the Gunners recorded a second straight league win at the start of the new league campaign.
